Delete your account and data
You can request deletion of your WeCoMed account and the personal data attached to it at any time. There are two ways to do it, and you do not need to reinstall the app.
Method 1 — Delete inside the app
- Open the WeCoMed app and sign in.
- Go to the Menu tab in the bottom navigation bar.
- Under Settings & Security, tap Device Security (FaceID/OTP).
- Under Data & Activity, tap Request Account Deletion.
- Read the summary of what will happen, confirm the request, then enter the six-digit code sent to your registered email address. That code works for account deletion and for nothing else.
The moment the code is accepted your account is deactivated and you are signed out of every device — there is no approval step to wait for. Your profile is deleted in that same operation; what happens to the rest is described under What your organisation keeps.
Method 2 — Submit an online request
If you cannot sign in or have already uninstalled the app, send us an email from the address registered to your account. The button below opens a pre-filled message:
Email an account deletion request
If the button does not work, write to privacy@wecoap.com with the subject "WeCoMed account deletion request" and include:
- Your full name
- Your registered email address
- Your registered phone number
- The organisation or association you belong to
We verify your identity before deleting anything — usually with a confirmation code sent to your registered email or phone. This prevents someone else from deleting your account.
Prefer to call: +84 345 240 627 (office hours, Monday to Friday).
What is deleted the moment you confirm
- Your ability to sign in, and every session on every device
- Your professional profile: name, email, phone number, date of birth, academic title, specialty, practice licence number and biography
- Your profile photo and any screenshots you attached to bug reports
- The education and work experience entries you added
- Push notification tokens, the list of registered devices, browser push subscriptions and your notification preferences
- Your personal inbox (invitations and membership decisions addressed to you)
- Sign-in links to Google or Apple, and your two-step verification settings — so the same Google or Apple account can be used to register afresh later
- The one-time codes ever issued to the account
- Your membership in every organisation: each one ends at that moment, and the seat you occupied is released
Your phone number and email address are detached from the account in the same operation, so neither can be used to find or recover it afterwards.
AI assistant conversations are only ever stored on your device — the server keeps none — so they disappear when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
What your organisation keeps
Some records belong to your medical organisation rather than to you, and cannot be deleted without corrupting somebody else's books. Those records are kept, but shown without your identity: they still point at the account identifier, and the account behind that identifier no longer carries a name, phone number, email address or photo. Anyone opening them sees "Deleted account". No further processing is scheduled for them — what is listed here is what remains after deletion, not a step that happens later.
- WeCo points. The balance is not stored anywhere — it is recomputed by summing the ledger every time it is shown. Deleting your ledger rows would change what your organisation's reconciliation adds up to, so the rows stay. You cannot recover or transfer those points.
- Approved CME credits and evidence files. These are continuing-education records held by your medical organisation — see the table below. Evidence files you uploaded are kept as submitted.
- Attendance history and check-in logs. They are the proof behind credits already awarded.
- NFC card records. The card record stays in the organisation's register; it cannot be used to sign in, because the account it points at can no longer sign in. Ask the organisation's administrators to revoke or reissue the physical card.
- Notifications the organisation sent you through its own workspace, which are the organisation's record of what it announced.
What is retained, and why
| Data | Why it is kept | Period |
|---|---|---|
| Approved attendance records and CME credits | These are continuing-education records held by your medical organisation and may be needed to substantiate the issue or renewal of a practice licence. They stay keyed to the account identifier; the profile behind it no longer carries a name, phone number, email address or photo. | Per the organisation's retention policy |
| Approved evidence files | They are the proof behind CME credits already awarded | Per the organisation's retention policy |
| Technical logs (IP, timestamp, error codes) | System security, incident and abuse investigation | Up to 12 months, then deleted automatically |
| System backups | Disaster recovery only; used for nothing else | Overwritten and fully purged within 90 days |
If you want the attendance records, CME credits or evidence files deleted outright rather than kept without your identity, say so in a request to privacy@wecoap.com. We will forward it to your organisation — which is the controller of that data — and write back with the outcome.
Processing timeline
| Milestone | Time |
|---|---|
| Acknowledgement of your request | Within 72 working hours |
| Account deactivated, all devices signed out | Immediately when deleted in the app; on identity verification by email |
| Personal profile deleted | At the same moment as deactivation |
| Your identity removed from the records listed above | At the same moment — the profile they point at is scrubbed in the deletion itself; there is no separate pass |
| Removal from backups | Within 90 days |
Account deletion cannot be undone. Your profile is gone and there is no copy to restore it from; your attendance history and WeCo points still exist but are no longer attached to you, so they cannot be given back either. To use WeCoMed again later, register again or ask your organisation for a new account.
Frequently asked questions
Does uninstalling the app delete my account?
No. Uninstalling only removes the data stored on your device. Your account and server-side data remain until you submit a deletion request using one of the two methods above.
I only want to leave one organisation, not delete my account
Contact that organisation's administrators to be removed from its member list. Your WeCoMed account and your other organisations are unaffected.
Can I get a copy of my data before deletion?
Email privacy@wecoap.com with the subject "Data copy request" before submitting a deletion request. We provide a copy of your personal data within 30 days.
Will my organisation be notified?
No. Nothing notifies your organisation's administrators when you delete your account. Your membership simply ends: you disappear from the member list and the seat you held is released, but nobody is alerted at the moment you do it. If you need your organisation to know, tell them directly.
